Tony:
Immigrants being detained at Alligator Alcatraz, a makeshift site in the swampland of Florida, have endured appalling state-sanctioned abuses — including maggot-infested food, overcrowded cages, overflowing toilets, and a severe lack of medical care.
Now, other states are opening similarly dangerous and inhumane detention centers.
There’s “Cornhusker Clink” in Nebraska, “Speedway Slammer” in Indiana, Louisiana’s “Louisiana Lockup,” Florida’s newly opened “Deportation Depot,” and your state could be next.
We’re fighting back: working to free individuals from detention and going to detention facilities in-person to document and expose abuses, advocate for their closure, and stop more from opening — but we need your help to respond.
Thanks to your recent action, we succeeded in almost shutting down Alligator Alcatraz… but then a recent court ruling allowed it to be filled once again. This is why we must keep up the pressure — our work is not done.
ACT NOW: Help stop the cruelty by demanding the permanent closure of Alligator Alcatraz and other brutal detention centers.
