President Trump has seemingly given billionaire Elon Musk complete power to take a chainsaw to norms and institutions that protect our human rights.

If you’re worried about Musk’s unfettered access to Americans’ most sensitive and critical data and systems of government… If you’re concerned about attacks on press freedom and marginalized groups… If you’re angered by how Trump is eroding the very institutions designed to hold him accountable… we need you to join us in taking action.

Trump and Musk want us to give in to their chaos. They want to overwhelm us with their onslaught.

But Amnesty is no stranger to fighting authoritarian practices. And together, our voices will NOT be silenced.

ACT NOW: Tell your lawmakers to DO YOUR JOB and STOP Trump and Musk’s attacks on human rights by serving as a check on the administration’s abuses… including by exercising oversight over DOGE.

Here’s what Congress has the authority to do right now:

• Urgently hold oversight hearings to ensure that human rights are being protected;
• Ensure that any “cost-cutting efforts” are done legally with elected representatives in a way that puts human rights at the forefront;
• Deny appropriations that fund human rights violations;
• Hold town halls to provide a mechanism for constituents like us to ask questions;
• Not confirm cabinet appointments without their explicit assurance that they will uphold human rights and the rule of law;
• Use every lever of their Congressional power to stop human rights violations.

Billie: this is one of the most abusive and aggressive assaults on human rights in recent U.S. history.

Each day we are seeing people being dehumanized by the President’s policies and rhetoric, and headlines about the cruel targeting, firing, and silencing of his purported opposition. Vice President Vance’s comment that “judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power” suggests they think that they are above judicial accountability.

Globally, the Trump Administration is actively trying to dismantle human rights protections, slashing critical international relief, spreading misinformation by falsely claiming that Ukraine started the war with Russia, and openly calling for the forcible transfer of Palestinians out of Gaza.

There are mechanisms to stop these actions — Congress has the power to serve as a check on the president’s actions.

That’s why we need you: Our leaders must intervene before further catastrophe ensues. Add your name to urge Congress to exercise its authority to put President Trump and Elon Musk in check and protect human rights.

Our movement is made up of millions of people who are committed to protecting freedom of expression and peaceful protest, opposing discrimination against marginalized groups, defending people who speak out against injustice, countering disinformation and misinformation, and defending human rights.

You keep us independent from any government or corporation. You power change. And now is the time to raise your voice.
