President Biden is talking up what he’s calling “the largest airlift in U.S. history...” but Amnesty is tracking the fallout for at-risk women’s rights activists, journalists, religious minorities, and others left behind in Afghanistan. They’ve been left behind. Their fears are real. They remain in peril.

We’re now ramping up our campaign to hold President Biden, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas accountable. We need your help to secure progress towards these three critical next steps:

  • Commit to admitting at least 200,000 refugees into the U.S. in fiscal year 2022, which starts on October 1, 2021
  • Immediately halt any and all deportations to Afghanistan and designate Afghanistan for Temporary Protected Status, so that Afghans cannot be sent back to a dangerous situation
  • Work with Congress to pass an Afghan Adjustment Act to establish a roadmap to citizenship for Afghans seeking safety in the United States

The Biden administration CAN help Afghans in need — but it’s clear they won’t take appropriate action unless they hear from us.

Take a moment to customize your letter — the more personalized it is, the more likely your demands will be heard. We’ll send it to President Biden, Sec. Mayorkas, and Sec. Blinken — and send a copy to your U.S. senators and representative so they know you’re speaking out on this crisis.
