On January 6th, former President Donald Trump addressed a crowd that included white supremacists, hate groups, and militias with the call to action:
“We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women. We’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong. And we fight. We fight like Hell and if you don’t fight like Hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.”
That crowd proceeded to march to the Capitol, bash down the doors and windows, threaten the lives of the Vice President and Members of Congress, and occupy the building for nearly two hours.
Everyone responsible for fanning the flames of racist hatred and emboldening white supremacist and other hate groups must be held accountable. Under international law, individuals suspected of having committed unlawful acts must be held to account through effective investigation, and where warranted, prosecuted.
That’s why Amnesty USA has launched a campaign demanding Acting Attorney General Wilkinson complete a prompt, thorough and impartial investigation into the storming of the Capitol.
Tell AG Wilkinson you support our call. Sign below and we’ll send your letter to him directly.
