Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip are being systematically killed, injured, and displaced daily by Israeli forces. Entire families have been wiped out by airstrikes. Children are being buried beneath the rubble of their destroyed homes.

Many of the weapons fueling this devastation are supplied by U.S. companies — including Boeing. Amnesty’s research confirmed that weapons made by Boeing were used in deadly, unlawful Israeli airstrikes that killed civilians in Gaza, including children.

ACT NOW: We need grassroots pressure to stop corporate complicity in war crimes. Urge Boeing’s President and CEO, Kelly Ortberg, to immediately suspend deliveries of weapons and military equipment to the Israeli government; conduct enhanced human rights due diligence in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights; publicly disclose the findings; and help remediate harms linked to Boeing’s weapons.

Dear Mr. Ortberg,

I am writing as a supporter of Amnesty International USA to urge Boeing to immediately stop all deliveries of weapons, munitions, and other military and security equipment, including weapons delivery platforms, to Israel. Amnesty International is a global, non-partisan, human rights organization with over 10 million members, activists, and supporters around the world.

Furthermore, I call on Boeing to undertake heightened human rights due diligence, as laid out in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, to assess and address any violations of human rights or international humanitarian law by Israeli forces to which Boeing products may be contributing or may be directly linked in the occupied Gaza Strip and to publicly disclose the findings of that process. If Boeing discovers through its heightened human rights due diligence process that its weapons are linked to harms committed by Israeli forces against civilians, it should take steps to ensure remediation of those harms.

Amnesty International has documented in an investigation and a submission in response to a National Security Memorandum on Safeguards and Accountability With Respect to Transferred Defense Articles and Defense Services credible reports that U.S.-supplied munitions and other articles to the government of Israel have been used in serious violation of international humanitarian and human rights law and that is inconsistent with U.S. law and policy. Amnesty identified U.S.-origin weapons made by Boeing in some of the unlawful attacks that have killed and injured civilians and destroyed and damaged homes and vital infrastructure, including the (non-exhaustive) following:

-   May 9, 2023 - 10 Palestinian civilians were killed and over 20 were injured during attacks launched into densely populated urban areas at 2am when families were sleeping at home. Amnesty International identified the bomb as a Boeing GBU-39 SDB.
    -   October 10, 2023 – Israeli strike on a family home in Deir al-Balah in Gaza killed 21 members of the al-Najjar family and three neighbors, including seven children. A Boeing JDAM kit was used with a bomb that likely weighed 2,000lb.
    -   October 22, 2023 – Israeli strike on three family homes north of Deir Al-Balah in Gaza killed 18 members of the Abu Mu’eileq family, including 12 children, and one neighbor. A Boeing JDAM kit was used with a bomb that likely weighed at least 1,000lb.
    -   January 9, 2024 – Israeli strike hit the top two floors of the Nofal family five-story building in Tal Al Sultan in Rafah using a Boeing GBU-39 SDB. The attack killed 18 Palestinian civilians, including 10 children, and wounded eight others.

Boeing is providing these weapons to Israel despite documented evidence by Amnesty International in its report released on December 5, 2024, “You Feel Like You Are Subhuman’: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza,” a months-long investigation concluding that the government of Israel has committed and is continuing to commit genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip. Israel has blocked food and life-saving supplies, and the risk of famine is looming. Over 65,000 children are at risk of starvation as Israel weaponizes food against civilians.

There is a clear global consensus that companies have a responsibility to respect human rights throughout their global operations, including with respect to the manufacture, export, import, and sale of arms that may be used to commit serious human rights violations, as reflected in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. This authoritative international standard exists independently of States’ abilities and/or willingness to fulfil their own human rights obligations, and over and above compliance with national laws and regulations.

Corporate actors also have an independent obligation to abide by international humanitarian law when their operations are connected to areas of armed conflict and occupation. Thus, Boeing is responsible for ensuring that its weapons are not used in the commission of international crimes, including genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, irrespective of any export licenses or approvals it has received from the U.S. government to supply weapons to Israel.

Furthermore, under the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in situations of armed conflict, companies are to undertake heightened human rights due diligence to ensure that their business activities and business relationships are not causing, contributing, or directly linked to human rights harms and humanitarian law violations. This includes conducting a conflict analysis to understand how a company’s activities, including the provision of goods and services, may be impacting the dynamics of a conflict and exacerbating harms. If a company is aware that its products are directly linked to harms through a business relationship and does not exercise its leverage with that relationship to prevent or mitigate their involvement, it may be contributing to those harms and thus has a responsibility to contribute to remediation.

Again, I strongly urge Boeing to meet its human rights responsibilities and stop contributing to harms against Palestinian civilians in Gaza by immediately stopping all weapons deliveries to Israel and to undertake heightened human rights due diligence to assess and address any violations of human rights or international humanitarian law to which its products are linked and to contribute to remediating any identified harms.
