Defend Şebnem against intimidation and harassment

Professor Şebnem Korur Fincancı is a forensic medicine expert renowned for her work in eradicating torture. Threatened by her work, in 2023, the Turkish government convicted her for allegedly “making propaganda for a terrorist organization.”

She called for an investigation into allegations that the Turkish military was using chemical weapons in Iraq. Now, she faces two years of imprisonment for holding the government accountable.

The government is cracking down on people’s freedom of expression and putting restrictions on the work of human rights defenders like Şebnem.
