TAKE ACTION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

Detained and tortured for his brother’s activism

National Security Agency agents stormed into a university dorm in Sadat City, northwest of Cairo, Egypt. They arrested all the students present and released the students except twenty-seven-year-old Oqba Hashad. His crime? Having a brother who is an active human rights activist, exiled from Egypt.

For 77 days after Oqba's arrest, he was nowhere to be found. His family did not know where he was and feared for their son's safety. During those 77 days, Oqba was tortured with electric shocks.

Oqba is being detained solely in retaliation for his brother's human rights work. He is denied proper medical care. His psychological and physical health is gravely deteriorating.

Call on Egypt to release Oqba Hashad.
