TAKE ACTION FOR HUMAN RIGHTS

Demand Freedom for Manahel

Manahel al-Otaibi is facing over a decade behind bars for advocating greater freedoms for women in Saudi Arabia. She was arrested for tweeting support for women’s rights and posting photos of herself without an abaya, a traditional loose-fitting long-sleeved robe.

Her case was taken to a Saudi court notorious for unfair trials and harsh sentences. Earlier this year, Manahel was given an 11-year prison sentence for “terrorist offenses.”

Manahel told her family a fellow prisoner had beaten her, and as a result, she was temporarily cut off from the outside world, unable to communicate with anyone. When she was able to contact her family again, she told them she was being held in solitary confinement and had again been brutally beaten, leaving her with a broken leg and no medical treatment.

We urgently need your help to free Manahel. Demand that authorities in Saudi Arabia immediately and unconditionally release Manahel and drop all charges against her.
