Here in the United States, we are no longer welcoming refugees in the same way. Under the Trump administration, our refugee admissions program is facing a threat to its very existence and we are in a downward spiral, admitting fewer refugees every year in search of safety. Many refugees have fled from violence, torture, and persecution in their home countries. As survivors, they are some of the lucky ones. Many have been attacked or abducted on their dangerous journey to a safer life. The Supreme Court of the United States allowed the Muslim and refugee ban to partially go back into effect and now the fate of the entire refugee program hangs in the balance. Most immediately, tens of thousands of refugees already granted permission to live in the United States are now in limbo, their lives at risk. Instead of turning our back on refugees, we need to stand together to say, “I Welcome.” Sign the pledge now to stand up for all refugees who seek safety and freedom here in the United States of America.
