Every state must implement protections for abortion providers and patients

In a post-Roe United States, one of the most important things states can do is create legal protections for abortion patients and providers.

These kinds of measures protect against out-of-state investigations by shielding patients traveling from hostile states into states where abortion is still legal and protected. They also shield abortion providers from legal threats from hostile states while providing care for people from those states.

After the decision to overturn Roe leaked ahead of the official Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling, governors across the U.S. leaped into action to implement such protections. Now, the rest of the country must follow suit.
