Break the Silence: End five decades of Impunity in Indonesia

One of the worst mass killings in modern days followed a coup by the late Indonesian dictator General Suharto. Despite moves toward democracy, the history of the 1965-66 massacres (up to a million killed in a year) is actively silenced by or with approval of the government. Oscar-nominated documentary “The Look of Silence” vividly examines this problem through eyes and agony of a man who learns painful details of his older brother’s brutal murder. The camera follows him as he interviews perpetrators (at personal risk) and talks to survivors including his own family. Tell President Widodo of Indonesia to end a shameful silence and enforce the law. Tell him 50 years is too long to wait for justice!
