A woman gang-raped by eight men who accused her of adultery is now at risk of being caned for this “offense” in Indonesia.

According to the Head of the Shari'a office in the Indonesian city of Langsa, eight men stormed into a woman's home on May 1, accused her of having an affair with a married man, then gang-raped her and beat her male companion. The woman could now be caned up to nine times for adultery under the province's Shari'a bylaws.
