Women's Rights are Non-Negotiable in Afghanistan

action27053.jpgMore than a decade following Taliban control of Afghanistan, modest advances have been made for the rights of women and girls but much remains to be done as anticipated peace talks between the Taliban, Afghan government and other insurgent groups jeopardize these gains. Amnesty International urges the U.S. government to adopt an action plan for Afghan women to ensure that their rights are not traded away during the reconciliation and transition process. The U.S. must make clear that human rights are non-negotiable and ensure mechanisms are in place to uphold those rights. Read More.
